Make Your Summer A Celebration Of Taste, Health & Happiness

Summer is here. The jacarandas and tabebuias are in full bloom and the air is redolent with the smell of mangoes. Yes, the mercury levels may be rising and days getting longer, but there are few things as enjoyable as tucking into mangoes with your friends and family. Not only are they delicious, mangoes also carry a number of health benefits. They are rich in vitamins A, C, folate, magnesium and potassium making them an effective aid in digestion and good for hair, skin and heart health. 

As a brand that’s always been about spreading happiness through food, at Anand, the recipe for keeping it cool during the summer season has always been about cooking up dishes that are creative, delicious and healthy. So, here are three mango recipes for the summer season that are high on taste & benefits and will keep you chill through the sweltering days ahead. 

 Mango Peda Shake

  • ANAND DOODH PEDA MANGO MILKSHAKE
Ingredients (Serves 2-3) 

1 big ripe mango
4 pieces Anand Sweets Doodh Peda (add one or two more pieces if you prefer more sweetness)
2 cups milk
6-7 ice cubes
A pinch of cardamom powder
  

Steps:

  • Peel and cut the mango into fine slices. Discard the stones
  • Dice the Anand Sweets Doodh Peda into small pieces by hand. Transfer them into a blender.
  • Pour 2 tbsp of milk along and blend the mixture to thick paste. 
  • Add the mango pieces and remaining milk into the blender. Add the ice cubes in as well. Blend well till all ingredients – including the ice cubes— mix into a fine thick shake.
  • Pour the milk shake into glasses. Add a pinch of cardamom powder. Serve chilled. 

PS: This milk shake recipe is versatile. You can replace the Doodh Peda with Anand Sweets Malt Burfi, Kaju Katli or Motichoor Laddu too.  

Mango Swirly  

  • MESSY MANGO SWIRL 

This is an Indianised version of the Eton Mess dessert that’s popular in the West. 

Ingredients (serves 2-3) 

2 ripe mangoes
5-6 Anand Sweets Badamika biscuits
300 ml whipped cream
2 tbsp sugar
¼ tsp vanilla essence
A small cup of pomegranate seeds

Steps:

  • Peel the mangoes and cut enough slices to fill a cup.
  • Mix whipped cream, sugar and vanilla essence into a bowl. Beat the mix nicely till soft peaks form.  
  • Crush the Anand Sweets Badamika into small pieces and add to the whipped cream mix. 
  • Take 2-3 serving bowls or glasses. Layer the bottom of the bowls with mango pieces. Follow it with a layer of the whipped cream-Badamika mix. Add a second layer of mango pieces followed by the remaining cream-Badamika mix. Top with the remaining mango slices. 
  • Add the pomegranate seeds as garnish.

Chaat

  • LOVELY NAMAK PARA CHAAT

    Ingredients (serves 3) 

    15-20 pieces of Anand Sweets Lovely Namak Para
    3 tbsp whipped curd 
    Pinch of salt
    1 small cup of finely grated raw mango
    ¼ tsp roasted and ground cumin seeds 
    1 tbsp chaat masala 

    For garnish:
    A small cup of Anand Sweets Dry Fruit Mixture
    Chopped coriander and green chillies  
    A small cup of pomegranate seeds

    Steps:

    • Lay out the Anand Sweets Namak Para pieces on a big plate.

    • Pour the curd over the pieces of namak para slowly to ensure it covers every single one of them.

    • Sprinkle the salt, roasted & ground cumin seeds and chaat masala.

    • Toss in the garnished raw mango, chopped coriander, green chillies and pomegranate seeds.

    • Sprinkle the Anand Dry Fruits Mixture as garnish.

    • Serve the chaat in small plates.
