Kardant, meaning “fried edible gum” in Kannada is a speciality sweet that originates from Gokak in the Belgaum district of North Karnataka. Popular in the city’s local markets from the pre-Independence era, Kardant is traditionally made with dried coconut, nuts, seeds and edible gum.
